a little bit safari

A friend asked me to create an invitation for her baby shower. I was happy to dream something up when she told me that she was planning a safari theme for the nursery. I like the wide open plains of the savanna with its inhabitants of giant elephants, tall giraffes, and speedy gazelles.

I wanted a safari theme when I was decorating our nursery for the first time. With limited cute options, I chose a set of bugs. Farm animals came next. Lastly, we had butterflies. It turns out that my Big Boy likes dinosaurs, the Little Guy adores turtles, and baby prefers cars. Who knew?

For the invitation, I created a baby giraffe with a bit of sparkle. Did you know a giraffe has a short mane that runs along the length of its long neck? I was inspired by this and created a fringed border along the panel card by fraying ribbon.

The finished piece has a soft edge framing the shower details.
